Blog Article/Post Caveat (Read First Please: Click the Link)
In many articles and posts explaining training, practice and applications it seems they model after a one-dimensional methodology, i.e., we tend to assume, practice and train directly in front of an adversary, predator and/or opponent - dependent on practice and training distinctions.
Looking at this from a self-defense distinction it seems very limiting and dangerous to teach only from one dimension. When I say dimension I am speaking of more that the face-on perspective because there are many dimensions that are physical, mental and philosophical that would benefit a self-defense action(s).
Like many aspects of the self-defense world lots of stuff gets left out, forgotten or never realized and the one dimensionality of current, quickly changing tho, karate and martial arts in self-defense still exists.
Karate and martial arts regardless of the distinctions toward sport, fighting, combatives and/or self-defense is by nature and in essence a multi-dimensional discipline and to train, study and practice karate and martial arts is to take on a multi-dimensional mind-set to train, study and practice.
